KanyaKumari- India’s Lands End


Kanyakumari is located in the southern most tip of India subcontinent. Kanya Kumari in Tamil Nadu, is the India’s Lands End, where at the time of the full moon it is possible to watch the sun set and the moon rise at the same time.
Kanyakumari is famous for spiritual leader Swami Vivekananda who spent days in meditation upon a rock off of the coast. Vivekananda Memorial was built in 1950. This memorial stands on one of two rocks separated by about 70 meters.
In Kanyakumari, the Vaisakha festival is celebrated in the tamil month of Vaikasi where an image of the goddess is taken around town in procession on various mounts.
In Kanyakumari, June to September is the period of South West Monsoon. While October to December is the period of North-East Monsoon.
